Ask Lucy uses AI to help you explore your recorded history. Ask about earlier experiences, comparisons, or tentative patterns, then inspect the entries behind an answer. It can make mistakes even when an answer sounds confident.
1

Ask a journal question

Open Ask Lucy from the bottom navigation. Type in Ask Lucy about a memory or feeling, or choose a suggested question.
2

Read with the record in mind

Lucy may answer with a coverage note that explains the available writing. If the journal does not support a confident answer, treat the response as limited rather than complete.
3

Inspect sources

When a response includes Sources, expand them. Source rows show dated entry information and may include a snippet. Tap an available source to open the original entry.
A source may be unavailable on this iPhone while sync is pending. A just-completed entry can also take time to reach the account before Lucy can use it. If the latest entry is still syncing, try again after it finishes.
Lucy can invent a detail, misread a date, overstate a pattern, or see too little history. Check the original entry before relying on a source or an interpretation. Ask Lucy is not a source of diagnosis or professional advice, and it cannot take actions such as setting reminders or changing app settings. For more boundaries, read AI limitations and safety. For a response to the entry currently in the editor, use Reflekt. For sync states, see Past and Drafts.

Gentle AI fair use

As fair-use controls roll out, Ask Lucy and Reflekt each have a separate daily soft threshold of 30 completed responses per account. Afterward, you can keep going with a short wait between requests. Writing, saving, and reading remain available. See AI fair use for rollout details and how pauses work.
